On Saturday Max turned three months old. It feels (to me) that Max has been with us longer then 3 months. It feels as if we have always been a family of four.
Saturday after naps we went outside to capture some pictures before we left for the rest of the afternoon. I put Max in the bumbo seat… and well my buddy had to sit in a PINK seat! : ) That’s what happens when little brothers come after girls – everything is already PINK! So I tossed one of his blankets over it – but still some pink was showing.
He is still all smiles. He didn’t care!
Who does he look like? Um, not sure. All I can see is Mallory. We kind of get all kinds of answers. Some say he looks like Jesse. Some say he looks like Jesse’s brother, Jerry. Some say he looks like me. But most of all – he is a little Mallory. : )
His eyes lashes are getting SO long! He didn’t seem to have the long eyelashes when he was born, like Mally did. But the last couple of weeks they have really grown and they are crazy long! I had a dream the other night that I actually trimmed them. Which I would never do in real life!
His hair all goes to the center of his head like a little baby mohawk. His hair is also taking on redish tones… but so did Mally’s when she was around this age.
He has squished ears! At first I thought his ears were just squished from being pregnant – but they are still like this 3 months later.
He giggles and coos! I can actually get him to giggle sometimes. I don’t know what it is about baby giggles, but I can’t get enough of them. Adorable!
He cries! This sweet baby boy is a crier! And he knows how to cry hard and loud! Sometimes I’ll think – oh this is such a fake cry, he’ll stop in a bit. Nope! He gets even more mad and then kicks it up a notch and really screams and cries. And as soon as I come to his rescue he stops! But only if I pick him up. Just talking to him doesn’t work. He just looks at me and continues to cry until I get him in my arms.
His favorite position is what we call “the tree frog”. He likes to be held up right and he kind of clings to my shoulder/arm and looks out behind me. Since it has been so hot, I’ve been wearing a lot of tank tops so then he really likes to suck on my shoulder while he is being a tree frog.
Loves his belly, unlike Mally. We actually figured out that he will take a real nap if we lay him down on his belly. I know you are not suppose to, but we only do it at nap time when we can keep an eye on him. Right now he takes one big nap (around 2 hours) in the morning and little naps in the afternoon. He is also taking his big nap in his crib! *yes!* This weekend he didn’t take a long morning nap (because I put him on his back) so he ended up taking an afternoon nap (because I put him on his belly) so Mally and Max both took naps TOGETHER! in the same room! I was so excited! I had a couple of moments of free time! So I wasted it with trashy TV (Giulian & Bill! They make me giggle and kind of remind me of Jesse & I) and oreos! It was just what the Dr. ordered! : )
He was fascinated by the shoes on his feet and wouldn’t take his eyes off them! A gal from our church made them! They are so adorable!
Doing lots better at sleeping at night! He is eating one last time around 9:30 and actually goes to bed afterwards. Most of the time he sleeps until about 5/5:30am!
Max is taking great interest in his thumb these days! He hasn’t mastered it yet, but he is trying real hard.
Mally has taken great interest in him now that he is awake more and talks and giggles and is starting to play with toys. She will crawl under his play mat with him and bat around at the toys too. She rubs his head and says – Hi Maxaroo! If he is crying she will say – It’s okay Maxwell. Stop Crying. She always thinks he needs his nuk and is trying to give it to him. He doesn’t take a nuk very well so she very rarely gets him to actually keep it in his mouth.
Mally and Max do fight a bit already. If Mallory starts to hear Max get a bit upset and on the verge of tears… Mally will come running to me and say “hold you hold you” because she wants me to hold her before I go get Max. Sometimes she wants to sit by me while I am feeding Max and he “kicks” her and she starts pushing his feet away saying – Max don’t kick me! I tell her Max is just little he doesn’t know he is kicking you and she tells me… Max is big!
