Four Months

Mallory just had her 4-month check up yesterday.  She is 14.13 pounds (50th percentile); 25.5 inches long (75th percentile); and her head circumference is 15.94 inches (25th percentile).  So I guess she has a small head… but it is a cute little head!  : )

I’m going to have to post pictures on her monthly posts because I found a website that will print your blogs!!  How cool is that?!  So if I post videos… when I get my blog printed it won’t show up.

Four Months…

~ Rolling rolling rolling!  She can roll from her back to her stomach but can’t figure out how to get back on her back.  She cries and gets mad and I have to help her back over.

~ Little bit of a temper.  If she is hungry or tired or just plain frustrated she will throw her head to the right and arch her back!  I don’t like that arching back stuff.

~ Giggling more.  I can get her to giggle now by tickling her belly or blowing on her belly.

~ Eating cereal!  She hums and talks the entire time.  She also has to help me get the spoon to her mouth.  I might not know the way!  And with every bite her hands have to go in her mouth… and then she has to rub those slimy hands on her head… and then grab my hand to direct the next bite in her mouth.  We are one big slimy icky mess every night!

~ Reaching and grabbing!  Right now I think it is cute, but I’m sure I won’t real soon.  She reaches for everything.  Doesn’t have 100% control but she definitely thinks she does and tries really hard.  If she is sitting on my lap while I am working and I have to answer the phone – she reaches for the phone cord and pulls it trying to get it into her mouth.  She has found my earrings and my hair!  No wonder why Mom’s cut their hair off when they have babies!  I decided to rock the ponytail instead.

She is definitely a Momma’s little girl.  When we go some where at first she won’t let anybody touch her.  She starts pouting and pretty soon the pout turns into tears!  She has to warm up to the environment first and then others can hold her.

Last night I left again, so it was Daddy-Mally night.  (I signed up for a photography class.)  Jesse was ready and excited for his Mally night.  I was ready and excited to learn my camera!  I got home and I find Jesse and Mallory on the couch.  Jesse is holding her and Mallory is laying on his chest sucking on her pacifier.  I said, uh-oh… not going so well?  He said, she won’t eat for me and she cries.  (LOL!)  As soon as Mallory seen me she picked her head up off Jesse’s chest and started grunting for me!  Jesse said that was the first time she picked her head up in 15 minutes!  And I went to pick her up and she looked back at Jesse and smiled!  Apparently that was also the first time she smiled all night!  He was not impressed!  I then reassured him that maybe she was a little more fussy because she just had her shots today.  He didn’t think so… he seen a different Mally as soon as I walked in!  Um, and I think Jesse was extremely happy to see me as well!  : )  (I really do think the shots might of played a little bit of a roll.)

I know this is just a phase where they want their Mommy’s all the time, but does it really start this young?  She is going to be 5 months here in a few days.  My sister’s little guy did this, but I feel like he was much older.  And honestly – I kind of don’t mind… because some day she is going to be Miss Independent, so I’m going to soak up my extra snuggles, right?!

A little Lynn time!

I love my Mally to pieces but after the last two weeks – I needed just a moment of Lynn time!  Week one – Jesse was studding for a huge test he had to take so we left him to his studding because if he passes… good things may be in store for us!  And I like good things!  : )

Then this week he comes home on Tuesday with a fever and crawls into bed!  He was out of commission – I wouldn’t let him touch Mally and we became big fans of Lysol!  The only one that would go by him was Crazy Maggie… can dogs get the flu?  ; )

Last night rolled around and I had an appointment to get my hair cut and highlighted and I was stinkin excited!!  First of – I love getting my haircut!  Second – Jesse and Mally were going to bond together at home!  We decided he wasn’t contagious anymore and I was outta here!

I was only gone for two hours, but man-oh-man I felt refreshed and cute and sassy again!  The girl who did my hair even styled it for me (and it was like 7 at night and I was just going home to sleep on it) and she told me she was making me look like I was going to prom!  She gave me big spiral curls – loved it!

I was only home maybe 30 minutes and Jesse had a page and had to go into work for an hour to help out a client.  Thank goodness this client held off until I got home.  ; )

So far *knock on wood* Mally and I are both healthy and show no signs of getting sick!

What’s a post without a picture?  Here is a picture that my Mom took this past weekend.

Fall!

IMG_6728It was a very nice fall day yesterday.  We headed outside early in the morning to clean up our gross garden.  The neighbors were outside too so we, of course, had to go chat with them!  I asked them why they put all their leaves in our yard.  Our yard has SO many leaves compared to the neighbors on both sides of us!  They laughed and said that the lady that lived here before us, really did think that everyone put their leaves in her yard!!

While Jesse cleaned out the garden I raked up a big pile of leaves because I want to plop Mally in the middle of it and take her pictures!  We had to do crazy things like this for my Mom when we were little… now I get to make Mally do them!  hehehehe!

We went to the neighbors and stole a couple pumpkins… I mean borrowed.

IMG_6723When I was done taking pictures.  I picked up Mally to put her back in her stroller and turned around and Maggie had picked up the little yellow pumpkin.  I yell, Maggie no!  Then she thinks it is a game and runs off with the pumpkin in her mouth!  I start chasing her!  Finally she dropped it and there was only one bite mark out of it!  I snuck the pumpkins back over to the neighbor’s yard… they will never know!  : )

Cute Hat Website

Okay, here is the website you go to see all the cute hats.  Now, I’m warning you… do not go here unless you have hours of time!  : )  I’m also warning you that it is very addictive!

Not only do they have adorable baby hats for girls or boys!  They have hats for the older kids!  They have jewelry!  They have furniture!  Everything is handmade!!  A lady down in Florida made Mally’s hat and when I ordered it she said it would take 4 weeks for her to make it and send to me.  So… you have to be patient!!

Enjoy!!  : )

Snuggling

On Saturday Mally and I went to my parents house for the day.  Jesse needed to study for a HUGE test that he has to take on Friday.  So we left him in peace and without distractions.

I really wanted to go watch my little cousin play football.  See I get in the truck in our garage which is attached to our house so I had no idea how cold it really was… until I stopped to get gas and stepped out and almost screamed!  It was freezing!  And extremely windy!  Then I get to my parents house (out on the prairie) and it is even colder and even more windy!

We still went to the game.  We bundled Mally up so snug.  She had on her snowsuit (which looks like a bunny – with a tail and big long ears!!) and we had her wrapped up in a blanket.  She was probably the warmest person there!  We only stayed for a short while and headed back to warmth and hot chocolate!

My little cousins came back to my parents house too and they had to get their snuggle time in with Mallory.  Here is Jake snuggling!!

 IMG_6685

IMG_6688I haven’t bought Mally a whole lot of clothes.  My sister kept all of Elly’s clothes – so I literally have totes upon totes of clothes.  But every once in while I’ll see something I just can’t pass up and I have to get it.  Like this hat!!  She actually needed a winter hat and my sister showed me this very addictive website with incredible cute stuff.  Anyway, I bought this hat for her!

It makes me want to know how to do this.  I took a crochet class when I lived out in Oregon.  But apparently I’m not a good listener and I made up my own stitch!  I kept thinking… how do people do this and watch TV at the same time.  I have to focus and it is taking a lot of work.  Duh!  I was doing it wrong!!  Maybe I need to go visit my Grandma soon and she can re-teach me!

Yum! Cereal!

IMG_6601

I have been contemplating starting Mallory on cereal for about a week now.  I consulted my go-to-mom (my sister) and she called me a chicken and said, just started her what are you afraid of.  : )

IMG_6610I bought cereal on Saturday and tried to give it to her on Saturday for her last feeding before bed.  Well it was too late and she was not in the mood for anything new.  We put her in the bumbo seat and she threw her head and cried.  She did not want anything to do with it.

IMG_6604I tried again last night when it wasn’t so late and when she was in a much better mood.  She did much better this time.  She cooed and kicked and chewed on her hands.

IMG_6609

Now you are probably thinking she is too little for cereal.  I keep reading that you can start them between 4 and 6 months and she is 4 months!  And it basically was milk on a spoon.  : )  Oh and she spit and blew bubbles so she maybe actually ate a 1/8 of teaspoon.  We went threw 2 bibs and a burp rag!

IMG_6606

No pictures of her first cereal – bad mom!  ; )  Maybe tonight will not be so wild and we can get some of her.
