Inducing Labor… Frey Style

I had my weekly Dr. appointment Friday afternoon and they were poking around my belly and they made it seem like Blueberry dropped even farther down!  She had a nursing student with her and she made her nursing student feel how low the baby was!

I’m kind of liking this low baby stuff.  In my mind, I think, less pushing and work for me to get her out!!  I’m sure it doesn’t work that way at all – but I’m going to think that!  : )

After I got home from my appointment it was really nice outside and I was feeling antsy and needed to get out of the house.  We decided to take the top down on the Jeep and go out to Jesse’s Dad land and drive around.

IMG_6099

Oh my goodness!!  Was this the bumpiest ride of my life!!  I seriously thought, if this doesn’t put a girl into labor… then this baby is not ready to come!!  Now it looks all smooth and easy sailing…

IMG_6101

But then Jesse spots a little hill for us to climb down!

IMG_6102I give him the look of… are you sure?  And I hold onto my belly and down we go!!

IMG_6103Then he spots a much bigger one and wants to climb up it!  That’s when I gave him the… I’m not one of the guys!  I’m a girl!  I get scared!  I’m 9 months pregnant!  Lets go find a trail and stay away from these rock hills!

Ah the trail back to a smooth black top road!!!

IMG_6109

I won’t lie – after this little adventure I felt different, minor pains – very minor!  But, nothing happened!!  Still prego!!

And the craziest part is I feel fantastic today!  I don’t even feel pregnant today!  It is the strangest feeling.  I feel like I can move and bend!  I can walk without waddling!  (Yes I started getting the waddle walk!!)  Hmmm… is this a good sign or a bad sign?

Mud!

This past weekend Jesse had a guys weekend.  Meaning him and a couple buddies packed up the Jeep and went camping and off-roading.

Jesse and I were a little nervous about him being gone for the weekend so close to my due date – but we made sure he had excellent cell phone reception and he checked in on me a couple times each day.  When he got home – I was still pregnant!  : )

He had a blast and came home with this pig of a Jeep…

IMG_6082

He just drove about 2 hours home and still the mud is falling off in the driveway!

IMG_6085 Our neighbor across the street is on city council or city board or something with the city… and they saw us outside in the garden and had to come over and joke with Jesse… Someone called and complained that this vehicle is making our street look bad!  Jesse of course responded with a grin and says, I’m proud to have that vehicle sitting in my yard!

IMG_6084

Do you know that they do this stuff with the top down!!!  So the inside looks just like the outside!!

IMG_6087

Of course, me being the girl that I am, I have to ask… why do you take the top down?  You could tear the top or scratch the windows of course!!!

IMG_6089

I giggled when I saw this…

IMG_6090 You gotta have your chew and Scrat the Squirrel (From Ice Age) to do some serious off-roading!!

Have no fear – he cleaned it all up to sparkly new the next day!  He is ready to go again!!

Garden is Planted

Remember when I was so excited about my little garden I was going to grow this summer?  Remember how I started seeds?

Well those seeds that I started did not do so well.  They all pretty much died!  I watered them!  I loved them!  I put them in the sun!  My green thumb just is not as green as I thought it was.  More yellowish-brown!!

We still wanted a garden and had the plot for it.  So we decided to hit the local nursery and buy their stuff instead of use our dead stuff.  I think we will do this every year – so much easier!!  Their stuff is big and healthy and ready for planting!  We loaded our cart up with fun veggies and came home to plant the garden!

IMG_6093I have my herb section in the front:  cilantro, basil and parsley.  We have bell peppers, jalapenos, broccoli, cauliflower, onions, cucumbers, tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, watermelons, and honey dews.

IMG_6094 These peppers look so much better then the ones I started from seeds.  Mine were brownish and a quarter of the size.

IMG_6095

Jesse wanted to try his hand at honeydews and watermelons.

IMG_6096

What’s a garden without tomatoes!!?  I can’t wait!  I can mix them up with my fresh basil!  Oh yum!

Here is an update on my lilac bush…

IMG_6097

Yup!  Just a couple of sticks now!  She finished it off the other day!

I hear you asking… how is Maggie doing with the garden we just planted?  So far – so good!!  She really can listen when she wants – that want is just not always there for her.

Oh… how about a quick baby update:  I went to the Dr. on Friday and I was told that she has dropped into the birth canal!!  I better go pack our bags – sounds like this could happen any day now!!

Belly Status – 38 Weeks

IMG_2794

We are getting so close now!  2 weeks left!!  Ahhhh!!!!  I’m about to jump out of my skin with excitement!!  The blankets are washed.  The clothes are washed.  We have a car seat!  The crib is ready!  I’m ready!  Jesse’s ready!  All we need is a sweet little baby…

IMG_2813

For the most part I am feeling good.  Yes, it is getting very hard to move!  It takes twice as long as it should to get dressed in the morning.  I have to go to the bathroom every 3 minutes and it is like a life or death situation!!  You feel as if you are going to die if you don’t go right now!!  Sorry… was that TMI?!!?  Oops!

IMG_2822

My ankles are disgusting!  Seriously disgusting!  But after a few moments of propping them up and resting they go right  back to normal.

IMG_2828

Its very funny to hear people’s reactions when they see me now.  I get a lot of “You’re ready, aren’t you?”

Sunday night we went to meet up with a guy to look at his truck (a whole other story that I’ll have to share with you sometime – Jesse is looking at a bigger truck – which I am totally jazzed about because I was stressing over how a car seat was going to fit in ours!  His concern was that our truck could not pull a trailer that he just bought.  The difference between Moms and Dads!).  The seller comes over and I’m still sitting in our truck.  He reaches his hand threw the window and shakes my hand.  A few moments later I hop out of the truck and the seller looks back at me and looks again and says “Holy $hit!  She’s pregnant!”  Jesse and I both laughed – I laughed pretty hard actually!!

IMG_2846

Think Blueberry will have Uncle Adam’s dimples!?

My clothes no longer fit.  My maternity clothes that is!!  My belly seems to always be sticking out the bottom of my shirts!  I never thought I would grow out of my maternity clothes!!

At my last Dr. appointment, I laid on the table and pulled my shirt up so we could listen to the heartbeat (which is my favorite part!) and she looks at my belly and says “Such a cute baby bump you have!”  I give that nervous giggle of… a bump, who are ya kiddin!  And she says that one of her partners at the clinic called her baby bump… a baby mountain!!  Yes, that is exactly what I’m calling the bump now… my baby mountain!!!

IMG_2853

Secretly – Jesse and I are both ready for our maternity leaves from work!!  Jesse will get two weeks off with me and I am very excited about that!

IMG_2766I think that is 38 weeks in a nutshell… everything is going well.  Blueberry is checking in right where she should be at all her appointments and everything seems healthy and perfect!

All the pictures were taken by my Mom!!

Lilacs… who needs ‘em

We bought this really nifty zip line for Maggie!  It was super nice out on Sunday so we put the zip line up and now she can run and not get in trouble.

This morning Jesse put her outside when he left work and I went to get her later this morning and discovered this…

IMG_6076 That was a lilac bush.  And it had way more branches then just that top one!  Apparently Maggie thought she needed a little lilac in her diet and this morning with the hot sun beating down… it was a good day for lilac!

I gave her a little lecture about eating my plants/trees/shrubs…

IMG_6072 I don’t think she is listening and she is trying so hard not to make eye contact with me!  Punk!!

So on a happy note… I soaked up this tree and all its beauty!

IMG_6077While I am photographing this, Maggie spots a neighbor and takes off running.  At least I had this pretty moment even though it only lasted a split second before I was off chasing a dog and giving out more lectures about being nice to the neighbors!

Me no like bugs!

When I was younger I did tons of babysitting and one summer I had a whole slew of kids who’s real babysitter took a week of vacation so all the kids came to me and my sister.  One of the little girls that we watched was super cute!  I can’t remember her exact age, but she was just starting to talk and she was just starting to potty train.  Anyway she said one time “Me no like butts” and she would wrinkle up her nose and shake her head.  I laughed so hard… she really didn’t like bugs, but it totally sounded like butts.

This week I have found myself using her saying over and over!

Me no like bugs!!!

One day this week I went to grab a file folder to work on some much needed paperwork.  I put the file on my desk opened it up and HUGE – MEGA HUGE – HAIRY – BLACK SPIDER was staring back at me.  I screamed… seriously!  I am home alone besides the dog.  Dog comes over to see what I am freaking out about.  I start yelling and point at the spider – Maggie get the spider!  Maggie get the spider!!  And she just sits and looks at me and tips her head sideways and won’t even look in the direction I am pointing.  Then I give a whole body shake/shudder and let out a little scream and then Maggie thinks I want to play and gets down low in her play stance.

I pick up my work phone and page my girl at work to give me some encouragement.  She just laughs at me.  I finally work up the strength to close the folder – pick it up – and put it back where I found it… with spider still inside.  I am just going to leave it in there until Jesse comes home!!  I told my girl at work that I just wanted to go home and take a shower and she so kindly reminded me that I am home… but I want to go upstairs away from this spider!!

I email Jesse and tell him that I just saw a tarantula and that he needs to come home quick and kill it.  Not 10 minutes later my phone is ringing and its Jesse wanting to know how big the spider really is!  So I confessed that is wasn’t a tarantula… but it was probably his cousin!!!  But I could wait until he got down with work in a couple of hours.

So while I am working the rest of the afternoon I swear I can hear that spider in that folder shuffling papers around he was so big!!

Jesse comes home and he goes for the spider and I have to flee I can’t even watch him touch the folder.  And I hear him say… Ew, that is a gross one.  Just get rid of it don’t inspect it!!!

Then… I go upstairs to start making supper and I see something on our garbage can.  Is that a wood tick?  Yup!

Then… I wake up to Jesse this morning telling me he found a wood tick on his head!!!  Were you not just sleeping in my bed next to me with a wood tick!!!!???  ::shudder::  I want to move!  We have found so many wood ticks already this year that I have seriously lost count.

I’m ready to go back to Oregon where there are no bugs!!

Nesting

I think I have hit the nesting stage of this pregnancy.  I found myself at the store stocking up on Paper Towels, Toilet Paper, Kleenex… Jesse asked for more deodorant and I bought him 2!!

Yesterday I washed all Blueberry’s blankets so they would be fresh and ready to go.  Oh and I totally washed them with Tide!!  *Gasp!*  I know – I didn’t use the special baby detergent!!  I put Blueberry’s bed together – put the sheet on the mattress – put the crib bumper up.  Another big no-no… you’re not suppose to us a bumper!!  But really that crib is just for looks right now because it is way too big and lonely for my little Blueberry!  ; )  I’m kidding!!  Well… maybe not… I did get a really nifty swing at one of my showers and I’m thinking she’ll like it in there much better for a little while.

Then I organized her changing table and got that all ready and brought Jesse in and showed him where all her goodies were!  I even bought more diapers.

I never thought I would say this… but… I’m getting ready!  I am so excited to meet her and hold her!  I’m so excited for Jesse to meet and hold her and to watch him snuggle her!  I’m so excited to see what it feels like to put your jeans on normally!  I’m so excited to put socks and shoes on normally!  I’m so excited to pick something up off the floor!  I’m so excited to wash the dishes and reach the sink!  I’m so excited to roll over in bed!  I’m so excited to sleep in a bed that isn’t over run by pillows that are propping me here and there!  I’m so excited to ride in a car again without back pain!  I’m so excited to sit in a chair without a back pain!

I’m getting ready…

~SURPRISE!!~

The coolest thing happened to me on Friday.  It was 5pm and I was just wrapping things up at work.  My doorbell rings.  I go to the door and see two of my friends outside giggling!!!!

IMG_2496

Now these two girls live 10 hours away!!!  And they are on my front doorstep!!!  And I had no idea they were coming!!

When I see them I start screaming and I can’t get the door open fast enough!  I was in so much shock and screaming and shaking they were afraid I was going to go into labor!!  Katie was really hoping I would so she could see me pregnant and then get to snuggle a little baby before she went home.

I was having a baby shower on Sunday and they decided to surprise me and come to the shower!  They coordinated everything with Jesse and he never slipped.  Although looking back on it – he was acting very strange…

On Friday afternoon (his day off) he vacuumed.  He does this often, so I thought nothing of it – and vacuumed everything!!  And when he was done I told him that I love it when he vacuums because he moves furniture and does a real job… and I said in a totally joking manner, how come you never volunteer to clean the bathroom.  And he went off to clean the bathroom!!

When I went upstairs and smelled fresh cleaned rooms I said to him “Jesse you can go to your brother’s house and smoke as many cigarettes as you want.  Heck you don’t even have to come home tonight!”  He just laughed and headed out to his brother’s!!

Now I know why he was cleaning… my girls were coming and everyone loves to have a freshly cleaned bathroom when visitors are coming!!  : )

Jesse also kept asking me what I was going to do Friday night while he was at his brothers.  He is never this concerned about what I do.  I kept telling him – eat ice cream, catch up on Private Practice, put the baby clothes in the new dresser, not a whole lot of anything.  He seriously asked me like three times that day.  Now I know why – he was afraid I might leave and I wouldn’t be here when the girls arrived.

IMG_2500_edited-1I had the best time with these girls – we can not see each other for 6 months and pick up right where we left off!!  I miss them like crazy already and I just saw them!!

You are kidding me!

I just looked at the calendar… May 1st today!!  That means I have one month left!!  So basically… anytime now we could have a baby!!  Holy cows!!

Are we ready?  Um… for the most part.  No crib mattress – but I think my Mom has an extra one that will fit.  No car seat – but the stores sell those everyday and if we have to we can pick one up on the way to the hospital!!  Or I’ll be booting my sister’s little guy out his!!  I’m kidding!!

So our month is pretty packed full of fun exciting stuff and Jesse has even planned a guy’s weekend where he will be gone for a few days on a Jeep/camping trip!  I told him he couldn’t go unless my sister would come stay with me and my sister told me… no – what was she going to do with her kids if I went into labor.  Apparently she doesn’t think that Elly and Garrett are ready to see how babies get here!

Jesse is still going on his trip (I’m really okay with it too.) and my Mom or cousin, Shawna, will be a phone call away if I do go into labor.  Shawna was there for both of my sister’s kids… so she’s practically a labor & delivery nurse by now!  And Shawna is a really fast driver… because she got Shannon to the hospital just with moments to spare on her first one!

Will I know when I am in labor?  Did anyone have that fear that they just wouldn’t know?

Gotta go back to my deep breathing…
