First grade folks! First grade! It is all down hill from here! Start the mommy support groups now because I am going to need them!

Mallory Rae! She is 6! She is spunky! She totally loves to be silly and giggle!
She is my worker! If I need a job done I go to her. She will get it done and correctly! She also takes great pride in being asked to help out! She does the laundry! She vacuums! She dusts!
She is messy! She takes off her shoes as she is walking into the house! Leaves them where they fall! Changes her clothes were she is standing and leaves them! Colors a picture and then leaves it! Unfortunately we are constantly asking her to pick up her things!
Picky eater! She is very fussy about her food. She doesn’t like things to touch. She doesn’t even want her french fries dipped into the ketchup until she dips them. Has to be a controlled dip. If they fall into the ketchup on her plate she is done. Won’t eat it. She does not like mayo, tuna, or spaghetti sauce. She is also a texture person when it comes to her food. There is a lot of Emmerich in this one!
Carefree spirit!! She does not care what her hair looks like! She does not care if her clothes match! Actually she thinks she matches most days – but she doesn’t! I let her express her style because I don’t want her to grow up worrying about that stuff. So I rarely fix her outfit choices unless it is really really bad! She has worn her ballet recital outfit to story hour with her hair completely uncombed and in a tangle mess with loafer shoes! She thinks she is pretty and by gosh she is!
Very creative! She loves to sit and draw or color or make projects. She also loves music and signing.
Adores her younger siblings! Her and Max are the best of friends most of the time! When they are not together it is like she is missing her right arm! She loves her baby sister! Tells me all the time she doesn’t want her baby sister to get big! And right now Melanie is in a stage where she is destroying all her things. She ripped the door off her dollhouse and Mallory is none to happy about it!
Mallory is a huge helper with Melanie though! Huge! She takes care of her when I shower in the mornings! If I need to get things done I will have Mallory take Melanie and she will go play with her! Only one time did Mallory not do good… I took a shower and Mallory was in charge and I let them watch a show. Came out of the shower and Melanie had gone into her room and locked herself in and was crying terribly. Mallory and Max never heard her because they were so into their tv show! They don’t get to watch tv a whole lot so when they do get to – the world crumbles around them and they have no idea. I wasn’t thinking when I let them do that.
On to school…
Mallory’s 2nd year of homeschool!
First grade!
She was so excited about school this year! So excited! I bragged it up a lot! I want them to be excited! So I work really super stinking hard to make school fun! She was up at 6am on our first day!! She was so excited!! We homeschool! A perk of homeschool is we don’t start until 9am! Sleep child!!
She got to make a sign for her first day picture…

It says, First Grade. Six is awesome. Look at that sass!
The other two kids have to figure out how to play and entertain themselves. So I brought out special toys for them to keep them busy. My goal is to swap out new toys each week to keep it fresh and exciting. The first day they found the farm magnets.

Let’s keep it real folks… this is what it looked like in 30 minutes!

And it ain’t a party until Melanie stands on everything!

Max won’t start school for a couple weeks. I am hoping to get Mallory into a groove and more independent before I introduce Max.
Melanie started walking a bit more on our first day!!
Some new things this year in our homeschool is we are doing a co-op. Every other Friday we will go to another homeschoolers house and have phy. ed. Super excited about this! I am also doing a homeschoolers mommy night where once a month all us moms can get together and talk about what we are struggling with and they will get it and hopefully have advice for us. There is something to be said about being with people who live the same lifestyle as you. I can often feel so alone in this because my close friends don’t do this. They are all working moms and I am odd duck out. But I am quickly building and finding my homeschool families to help me with that.
I also signed Mallory up for choir this year! It is a choir offered to homeschoolers! yay! Once a week we will be driving into Eau Claire for her choir class! She will do this instead of ballet this year! When I told her she was going to do choir instead of ballet she jumped up and down and was giddy and told everyone she saw! Look out Grandparents there will be a Christmas concert this year!! : )
We are ready for you school year!!
