Only a mother…

… could love a face like this!

IMG_0200

Mally either has a little head cold or she has allergies.  Her nose is running and her eyes are watering and swollen.  However this does not stop her from playing in the dirt.  She wasn’t eating the dirt – she was doing what ever little kid does to wipe their nose – use their dirty hand!

IMG_0202

It had been raining off and on until about 4pm when the sun finally came out.  I packed the kids up and headed outside to work on the garden.  Jesse got the rototiller from the neighbor and then washed it off before he returned it.

IMG_0205

While he was washing it – he was creating a puddle and who found the puddle?  Yup, Miss Mallory!  She was one dirty wet mess!  However, she had the time of her life splashing in that puddle.

IMG_0206

Goofy was “swimmin”  and splashing in the puddle and then he went for a ride in the wagon and then he was dumped out here.

Maxwell ~ One Month

IMG_2192-1

Maxwell has reached his one month mark already, and I am afraid he has been given the nick name Mad Max.

Max’s One Month Stats:

* At his one week check up he was not at his birth weight, so I had to bring him back a week later.  By then he had gained a pound in a week and was well past his birth weight.  I don’t know how much he weighs at the moment but he is filling out quite nicely.  : )

IMG_2205-21

* He loves to sleep… during the day.  : )  Not so much at night.  He seems to wake up every two to three hours during the night and by the 4am mark – he won’t go back to sleep in his bed.  He wiggles and fusses.  Now that Jesse has gone back to work as well (he gets up at 4) I have the entire bed to myself so I pull Max in bed with me in hopes that I can get a few more minutes of sleep.  Believe me it is minutes because he is wiggling and fussing every few minutes.  I’m learning (and getting use to) functioning on only a few hours of sleep.

* When Max is awake – he is usually crying or scream crying.  It seems to be very rare moments when he is awake content.  Mallory even says “Maxwell stop crying.” when he is crying.  He has perfected crying as soon as food hits the table and I’m about to eat.

IMG_2211-27

* He is a snuggler.  He likes to be held or even better yet wrapped up in the moby wrap.

* He likes to be talked to.  If you catch him before he reaches the scream crying – you can usually just start talking to him and he calms down.

IMG_2250-59

* He would love to nurse all day long every day.  I’m a scheduler nurser and he wants to be an on demand nurser.  We are both learning to bend our ways.  : )  However it is usually me who loses.

All the pictures were taken by Hemmer~Ich Photography when Max was only a week old.

I had to look back at Mallory’s One Month stats… http://jlfrey.blogspot.com/2009/07/one-month.html

Trash to Treasure

We went back to work last week which means our nanny started.  We are loving our nanny!  She brings her youngest daughter with her (who is 8 years old) and Mallory loves playing with her.  I also think that K loves playing with Mallory too!  When they arrive each morning Mallory runs to greet them and then K and Mallory are instantly playing.  I think having K come really helps Mallory with the fact that I’m not here all day.  She yells “ba-bye momma” and doesn’t even come give me a hug or kiss!  She is too busy playing already.

The nanny (Mrs. C) took the girls garage saling on Friday.  There were 65 garage sales in the neighboring town and Mrs. C loves garage sales.  She had already hit two garage sales before she even came to our house.  I sent her with the stroller and said, if Mallory wants to walk you can at least use it to haul all your treasures.  : )

I sent $10 along with Mallory in case she found anything.  I’m so glad that I spotted them coming home because when they got out of Mrs. C’s van it was the cutest thing ever!!

Mrs. C parked on the street in front of our house so Mallory was walking down the road towards the driveway pulling this little wagon stuffed full of toys.  Mallory was walking like she was the proudest little girl!

I ran for my camera, however by the time I got it and got outside she was already in the driveway.

My pictures are blurry because I was in manual mode and in a hurry before she got to the house.

IMG_0196

Of course she finds a Mickey Mouse and a Minnie Mouse.  No less then 156 times a day do I hear a request to watch Mickey Mouse.  Then she will try this “Goofy watch Mickey Mouse?”  Since I won’t let Mally watch Mickey Mouse… just maybe I would let Goofy watch it.  Have I mentioned that she is not even two yet and she is already pulling these stunts?  Please pray for me!  Hahahaha!

IMG_0197

When she woke up from her nap she asked if she could get up and then she asked “Where’s the wagon?”

IMG_0198

Mrs. C said the wagon was $3 and she thought that was a little high but Mally would not let go of it.  She would not even go pay for it.

IMG_0199

Mallory’s other treasures were: Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, a snake, Vtech Computer, and blocks.  She even had $4 left over.

Summer Nights

Sorry for the delay in blogs.  It is not because of having a baby… it is because I lost internet in my house!  : (  We moved all our stuff out to the shop office and I can’t figure out how to get internet to work in the house anymore.  And, my wireless from the shop office won’t reach the living room.  : (  Hopefully I figure out my house internet soon so I can get back to this because I miss it!

IMG_0155

One of Mallory’s favorite outside toys right now is this bubble gun.  It provides minutes and minutes of entertainment.  Notice I didn’t say hours?  Teehee!

IMG_0159

Mallory seems to be on her tippy toes a lot.  However, she does stand and walk flat footed – so it isn’t of concern.

IMG_0166

Maxwell sleeping in the sunshine!

IMG_0167

Mallory’s unruly hair.  She hit the stage where she doesn’t like to have pretties in her hair anymore.  It is constantly in her eyes and she doesn’t seem to mind.  Drives me crazy.

IMG_0175

I got this umbrella from a garage sale last spring and Mallory is finally starting to take interest in it.  However, she thinks that the umbrella has to sit on her head instead of just holding it above her head.

IMG_0183

See that hair in her face?  Umbrella makes for even more unruly hair.

IMG_0184

She then realized that the umbrella was a lady bug and she says… ladybug not get you.  She doesn’t like bugs and she thinks every bug is a ladybug and she says “ladybug not get you” when she sees them.

IMG_0185

Max flipping me the bird.  : )

IMG_0189IMG_0190

One day Mallory decided that going barefoot outside was the way to go.  She can walk anywhere on those bare feet.  Mallory’s Grandma (Jesse’s Mom) can go barefoot outside too!  She must of got her feet of steel from her!

Here is where she ditched her water boots… at the bottom of the stairs to the slide.

Snowsuits and Rain Boots

Today is May 9th and I had to put Maxwell in a snowsuit to take a walk tonight.  Thank you Wisconsin!

IMG_0145

He didn’t mind.  He could still sleep.  : )  Have a mentioned that this kid is a sleeper?  Actually he is getting better – I’m a strict schedule person and I’m whipping him into a schedule!  ; )  (Which means not so much sleeping during the day.)

IMG_0147

Mallory and her rain boots.  Every time we leave she tries to get out of the house with her boots on.  Today she needed them because it rained and thundered all day long!  Mega puddles were to be splashed in tonight on our walk.

IMG_0150

When it would thunder loud Mallory would come running to me saying “whats dat?”  I would tell her it was thunder and she would hold her arms up (for me to pick her up) and say “I see.”  Hmm… you can’t see thunder.

Little Helper

Bath time will never be the same again.  Mallory thinks it is splash time!

IMG_0136

When I give Max a bath she is right there ready to splash and play in the water.  IMG_0138

She played for a good hour and half.  I put the stop on it when she decided to get my kitchen towel and toss it in the tub and take it out dripping wet – we had water every where!IMG_0141

For the record – Max is NOT a fan of bath time!  He screams and cries and when we get him all warm and snuggly again – he goes right back to sleep.

First Week

It is totally amazing how different the first week with Maxwell has been vs. with Mallory.  How quickly you pop back into your routine.  How you don’t need as much sleep as you did with the first.  How much more relaxed I am with everything this time around.

IMG_0127However, Little Max is a sleeper.  This kid loves to sleep!  I pretty much still have to wake him up for feedings.  He does okay during the nights.  Last night was rough – he didn’t stop grunting/wiggling until about 1am.  Was up at 3am.  Up again at 6am… and Mally has been waking up at 6am now!!!!  This girl use to sleep until 8 and baby Max shows up and she can no longer sleep late into the morning.  Grrr!  : )   And I keep Max as quiet as possible during the early morning hours in hopes that she will sleep longer.  However, she takes awesome naps in the afternoon – but I don’t take naps so… Welcome to life with two, I guess.  : )

IMG_0128

I really need to figure out how to change boy diapers.  I have been peed on so many times I lost count.  Even poor Mallory got the pleasure of being peed on!  She stands on her stool next to the changing table and she got showered.  She stood there with this look on her face like – why am I wet?  and started to cry.  Today I was changing him and he went three times during one change!  Max *hates* getting his diaper changed and gets very angry and very wiggly – I had a huge mess!

IMG_0131

Max has found his way into the Moby Wrap already.  He is a huge fan of it.  He will be so mad and I get him in here and he calms right down.  I am also a huge fan, because I get both my hands/arms.

IMG_0132

Tomorrow I have my first outing, by myself, with both of them.  I’m kind of nervous.  However, it is just to the doctors… but still!  Oh and Max needs diapers and my curtains came in.  Hmm… my true mommy skills may be tested tomorrow.  : )
