Belly Status ~ 35 Weeks

IMG_0660_fix

Oh my goodness!  Is there a baby in there or what?!  Do I really only have about 5 weeks left?!!!  That is just crazy talk to me!

When I see this picture, I then see why I can’t tie shoes… I can’t roll over… I can’t sit up…  What will 5 more weeks look like?!  Oh my!

Ups:

~ I feel so much better now that we have a room done for baby girl!  I only have minor concerns about our ultra sound tech being wrong and there is really a baby boy in there… and then calling my sister telling her to bring me her baby boy clothes and having my Mom do a quick color change on this room!  Then asking everyone for their boy names because we don’t have one!

~ I am getting so excited to meet our little baby.  What will she look like?  Will she have hair?  What color eyes?  Will she look like me or will she look like Jesse?  Will she have Jesse’s toes… I’m hoping for a big NO on that one!  ; )

~ Birthing class – done!  We took the plunge and did the birthing class thing.  It wasn’t terrible – although we did skip out early.  I did not want to see a birth – and well I saw one… kind of… I looked away/closed my eyes/cringed for a few moments and it was over.

~ For the most part (besides the minor back aches) I am still feeling really good.  I remember hearing that the 3rd trimester I would get sleepy again – but I don’t feel as sleepy/lazy as I did in the 1st.

~ I am not waddling!  Jesse asked me the other day when I was going to start to waddle.  I feel as if there are moments when I am totally walking funny – but he says I am not and I’m taking his word for it!

Downs:

~ The return of heartburn!  The strange part is I don’t get heartburn all day long!  I can eat just about anything and everything and it doesn’t effect me.  The only time I get it is when I lay down to sleep.  Thankfully it only lasts a few moments – or- until I roll over to the other side.

~ Swollen!  I finally had to remove the wedding ring yesterday.  It was a sad day for me.  That ring hasn’t left my finger for 6 years!  Actually today my fingers look normal… but the last two days I have had sausage fingers – bad!!  So bad that I couldn’t even get my ring off without lotion/soap!!  And I won’t even talk about my poor feet!  Wowsers!  I think I heard that this can happen if you don’t drink enough water… and I haven’t been lately – so I’m back on my water kick to see if it will help.

~ Legs.  I hate to bring these legs up again, but I have to.  It is a good thing I have a desk job because I don’t know how I could stand all day long.  We have been working really hard on our bathroom/basement this entire weekend (sanding, priming, painting) and my poor legs, feet and hips!  I had to get up in the middle of the night last night to…um…what else… go to the bathroom and I could hardly walk!!  Thank goodness the weekend is over and I can rest!  In our birthing class the instructor told us that sometimes leg cramps can be from drinking too much milk.  Guilty!  I can’t get enough milk – We drink 2 gallons a week with just the two of us.

~ Baby bangs!  My sister and little niece have these adorable little wispy baby bangs, I call them.  I think they are so cute on them two girls.  I always tell Shannon how I love those little bangs and she grunts and says how she can’t stand them.  Now I know why!  For some reason I have them now and I never had them before!

Baby Room Makeover

Lots of changes have been made in our little household the past few days.  Our goal was to have our office out of the baby’s room before Monday.

Except Saturday we had birthing class… from 8:30 – 4:30!!!  The whole time we are sitting in the class I kept thinking of what color I wanted to paint in the new office.  Will I have time to paint the new office.  Are we going to make our deadline.  Jesse is beside me thinking all about dirt bikes and how he is stuck in the basement of a hospital on a nice Saturday.  They release us for an hour lunch and during the lunch Jesse says… you want to skip the rest of the afternoon?  Um, heck yes I do!  So we stuck around for the tour of the maternity ward and then we bolted and headed home!!

Now the second half of the class was on c-sections and I don’t know how they could possibly talk about c-sections for 3 hours.

Good thing we skipped out early because Jesse was able to sand the new office wall.  I was able to go buy paint before the local hardware store closed and we got the new wall finished!  Here is a little look.

IMG_6046 This new office is still in shambles, but we are both still able to work and get our jobs done.  Organization-Office will have to come a little later in the year.

With the office out of the baby’s room that meant that my Mom could come paint and decorate on Monday!  I was way too excited!

Here are a few before pictures of the room.  A person could get lost in all that wood.  I can’t even believe this was once a style.IMG_6014 IMG_6013 It took lots of primer to cover up all that wood…

Then there was color!!!

IMG_6019 Then there was furniture and decorations and curtains and a completed room!!!

We only did one wall pink the other three are the yellow.

Storyboard The room is so cute and I love it!  Jesse keeps saying… she’s going to be a girl.  : )

Thank you so much Mom for coming out here to do this room!  That was very special and we both appreciate it!!

House Party

Last night I busted my first house party – and it wasn’t pretty!!!

We went over to Jesse’s brother’s house.  Jesse and Jerry put the winch on the Jeep and Steph and I headed to the mall to get our toes painted for spring.  While we were gone we let Maggie (the dog) have free roam of the entire house.  This wasn’t the first time.  We have been doing this for awhile now.  Um, last night did not go well – at all!!!!!

We walk in the door and see that she found the milk jug and chewed on that.  She also found a pen.  We both said – ah just a milk jug!  Not bad!!  Jesse takes her outside and I go into the house – and discover so much more!

Downstairs I see all this electrical stuff for the bathroom laying out.  I don’t think Jesse left this here today?  Then I walk up stairs and I see a baby chew toy laying out.  And my stomach gets sick!!  I remember putting that baby toy in a box with all the nursery bedding.  I don’t even want to finishing going up the stairs.

I reach the top of the stairs and I find the wrapper which the baby toy was in.  All the pillows are off the couch and in the middle of the floor.  One pillow is completely missing.  I walk down the hallway to look to see if I still have baby bedding… I slowly peek into the room and I see baby clothes that I just bought that day at a garage sale scattered across the floor.  The bedding… still in the box!!!

I walk into our room and Maggie jumped up on our bed (which is kind of tall) and tossed the pillows around and threw some on the floor.  Tipped over our laundry basket and threw the clothes all over the room.  I also found the missing living room pillow in our room.

I walked back out and went to find Jesse.  I did not touch a thing – I left everything exactly where it was.  I yelled out to Jesse “It is not pretty in here!”  And he wants to know what she did and I just can’t find the words and I just keep repeating “It is not pretty in here!”

Thankfully nothing was chewed up except the milk jug and the baby toy.  My pillows, furniture, clothing, baby bedding where all unharmed!!  Whew!

And Jesse was telling me yesterday afternoon that when he had Maggie into the vet to get her stitches out (she will not be having puppies – and no stitches or surgery did not slow her down – she was flying up & down stairs hours after her surgery) there was an elderly lady who told Jesse, with tears in her eyes, that she had a dog like Maggie but she was hit by a car just a few months ago.  She loved that dog – she was a good dog.  I think last night I was ready to go find that sweet innocent elderly lady and let her know she could have this dog that looked like hers… and… um… she was a real ‘good’ dog too!!

Then today we meet a couple who have the same ‘breed’ dog as Maggie – black lab german shepard mix… and they said she just turned 5 and is just starting to settle down.  I cringed (Maggie is just a year old) and I think I even cried a little bit inside…

Super Nanny

On Monday my sister had to work and didn’t have daycare – so I volunteered to take her kids for the day.  My plan was to still work myself while they were here, just so I could get a feel for this working and taking care of little ones.  Secretly I was actually really nervous – I had no idea how it was all going to work out.

It couldn’t have gone better!!  My goodness she has some super awesome kids!!  About 15 minutes before I was suppose to start work I got everyone in the office and snuggled in.  Elly at the computer playing her games… she thought it was so cool that she was on Jesse’s computer and was she very happy to tell him when he came home for lunch that she was on his computer!

IMG_6011 And Garrett in his jumper.  Look he is happy!!  Now he goes crazy in this jumper and nonstop jumps… and it is noisy!!

IMG_6012

So Elly and I are at our computers working away and Garrett is jumping and it is loud.  Elly finally yells – I can’t hear my games!  And I’m thinking if my phone rings I’m never going to hear the caller.  Pretty soon Garrett starts grunting and I so know what he is doing… he is working on a good smelly one for me!!  And he did!  So I go change him and I left him on my bed while I went to discard the nasty diaper and wash my hands and when I came back he was almost asleep, so I left him.  He slept the whole morning while I worked!!!  I was so excited – that was a 3 hour nap!!

He woke up during my lunch and we got him all fed and put back in his jumper for the afternoon of work.  I could only do another hour or so and both kids had enough of my working and were ready for something new and exciting.  My last 10 minutes of work I actually had Garrett in my lap and he thought it was real fun to drool all over my papers and grab anything in his reach!  Elly was even at my desk at this point coloring and watching everything I did and she is so into reading so she wanted to know all the words I was typing.  It was time for me to shut down and spend the rest of the day with the kids.  So I did.

The biggest challenge during the day was feeding Garrett his bottle.  I have this huge oversized basketball belly and trying to snuggle Garrett on top of it was literally like trying to balance him on a basketball.  We did eventually get snuggly and he drank his bottles without any problems.

It was a really fun day with the kids and I learned that it wasn’t so scary.  I really need to practice my diaper changing – man it has been a really long time since I have done that!  And I really need to get organized… it would come time to feed Garrett his cereal/fruit and I would get him in his chair and I would have the food and the spoon… but no bib on him – and he is a messy eater.  Elly would go get the bib.  Then I needed a burp cloth because he was really getting messing and starting to put his toes in his mouth and now we had cereal all over his toes!  Elly ran and got me that.  I think Elly just needs to move in with me when I have Blueberry!  Elly even tied my shoes for me – hey it is hard work to reach my toes these days!!

And I slept SO good that night!  I think I was even rolling over without waking up!!  And for those of you who have been pregnant before you know you can’t roll over without waking up first – and you know how much of a workout it is to roll over.

Walls are Up!!

It has been very busy here the last couple of days!  A good busy!  Progress is being made and I’m loving it.  They put up the walls yesterday and this morning - the job is done!  Well, done enough that we can move the office back down and start on Blueberry’s room.  Way too exciting for me that I might burst at the seams!

This is looking down the steps at the new bathroom!!

IMG_6006

The room is enclosed!  The lights are in!  Even the shower head is installed.  I asked if I could take a shower because already this shower is way prettier then the one we are currently using.  I was told I better wait for the glass to be installed.  Bummer!

IMG_6007 IMG_6008

We even had Mike redo this wall for us this morning (picture below).  It was icky wood paneling.  Last night Jesse tore it down while I sat on the steps and supervised.  Jesse even installed these lights too!  I love them!!

It is so nice to have these walls up and to see a room so close to being ready!

Tinkerbell!

Elly had Tinkerbell tattoos yesterday and she wanted me to have one – so we put it on my belly!  She thought that was so fun and then wanted to put more on my belly!  I think she thought it was her new art canvas!

Elly & Blueberry copy

Since I didn’t give you Ups/Downs last time I thought I would share a few now:

Ups:

~ Baby girl is already into position – head down.  I was a little scared when the Dr. told me this, but she acted like it was a good thing and didn’t seem concerned at all.

~ I asked the Dr. if she knew how much the baby weighed… she said she could guess.  She started feeling around and said, 4 pounds!  Whoa baby!  How much will they grow in 2 months?  Hopefully it is only a pound a month or I could be the next lady that delivers a 12 pound baby!

~ For the most part I am still feeling good.  Yeah there are minor aches and pains here and there, but I know that comes with the territory.  And they put me on iron pills a few weeks ago and holy cows can I tell a difference!  I had no idea my iron was low.  I thought I just hit the 3rd trimester sleepiness.  Amazing what a little iron can do!

~ Hiccups.  I just started feeling her have the hiccups.  It is kind of funny and really cute.  You can actually see her have the hiccups – my belly will shake!

~ The crib and dresser are ordered.  I found a crib and dresser set on EBay, my new found addiction.  Except it hasn’t arrived yet and I am very anxious and ready to see what it looks like in person.  Although we don’t have a room for her yet so I guess I better get those boys motivated on that bathroom so we can get her room ready!!  (Jesse did install lights in the bathroom yesterday!  And they work!)

Downs:

~ Birthing classes.  We still haven’t signed ourselves up for birthing classes.  I don’t know why.  Lazy?  Scared?  Is it worth it?  Our Dr. actually told us to call on Friday… and I didn’t.  Shame, I know.  Jesse says, I just figured we would figure it out on our own.  My thoughts are, do I really want to know what happens?  I think I would rather just go blindly into it.

~ It’s snowing.  Okay so this has nothing to do with pregnancy – but it is snowing and I’m grossed out by it!  It would be real pretty if it was December, but it is April and we’re ready for that hot sunshine and a campfire in the backyard.
