Mallory is really starting to take great interest in Max. She gets right in his face and yappers at him and repeats the noises he is making back at him. She gives him toys. She flips his nuk around if it is upside down. She gives him his blanket. She is even to the point where she wants him to watch Sesame Street with her while I go take a shower. I usually take him with me and she stays and watches Sesame Street… but now she says – leave Max here! One day I was feeling really brave and thought… ya know, a private shower sounds fantastic! So I left him on his play mat – he was content swatting at toys and babbling. I told Mallory if he cried to give him his blanket and nuk and then come get me. He never cried!!
Now I leave him upstairs with her more often and every once in awhile I’ll hear him crying and she doesn’t come get me. She apparently is really good at tuning him out and she just watches her show as if there is not a screaming baby sitting right beside her.
She has been wanting to hold Max now too. When I put him in her lap – he is just as big as she is. Makes me giggle!
I have been horrible at getting my camera out and taking day to day pictures like I did with Mallory. I need to get better at that – pronto!
Trying to get them both to look at me at the same time – not gonna happen.
Wait… I almost did. Max spotted something out the window though!
And then they tipped over.
Do you ever wonder how long Max’s hair has to get before it will lay down and not spike up?
We just concurred some really tough days and nights with Mr. Max. He was running some pretty high temps – for FIVE days! He didn’t have anything else going on – like cold symptoms or flu symptoms to go with this fever, just a high fever! I was having to hold him to get him to sleep – even during the night. If I put him down he would instantly wake up and cry. He was only staying awake for about 15-20 minutes at a time and then going back to sleep. During his awake times he would just lay on me and be very still or he would lay on me and whimper cry.
I had to hold him all night long, he would not sleep in his bed. He had to be sleeping on my chest snuggled with his blanket and nuk… and I had to be either patting/rubbing his back, walking, rocking, or bouncing him to keep him sleeping. We had to do this for four nights (five days) straight!! It wasn’t fun!
Sunday afternoon (day three) I was about to have a melt down because I couldn’t get him to sleep longer then 10 minutes (so it felt like) so I thought he would sleep so great if we took him for a ride in the truck. So we went for a ride… a long ride! He slept for 3 hours straight – that was the only time he slept that long during his whole sickness! And he broke his fever… but it came back. That was the thing, we could get his fevers to break and then they would come back in a hour or so.
I felt so bad for him… and I took him to the Dr. 3 times during it all too! They told me it was just viral and it needed to just pass on its own. One time it was to the ER because his fever was 104.1. The ER told me to take him back if I couldn’t get his fevers below 101 in two days. I couldn’t they were at 102/103, so I took him. Then they wanted me to bring him back again the next day.
Finally by day five (Tuesday) in the afternoon he was starting to feel better. I got him to eat way better, he was able to be out of my arms and playing for a good hour! And by bedtime that night he went to bed in his own bed and slept there the whole night! He did wake up about a half dozen times… but that is typical Max.
Today he is completely back to normal Max… and we are on day two of post sickness. When you have sick kids – it so makes you appreciate the healthy days!!
