Up North

We took on our first ever over night stay with Mallory.  Oh and Maggie too.  My Grandpa lives up north on a lake and invited all of us kids to come stay for the weekend.  Now Grandpa has 11 children – plus all 11 of his children have kids… and those kids have kids… you get the picture… tons of people!!

Here is everyone.  We are still missing people that showed up a bit later.

Mallory with her cousins.

IMG_6332Little did we know that Mallory had a huge diaper explosion during all this picture taking.  And I am talking huge!!  My sister went to pick her up and she says… Lynn she is all wet, how did she get wet?  Then we picked her up and she was more then wet!  She was soaked!  We even had to spray out the stroller because the stroller was soaked!

Other then the diaper explosion – Mallory did awesome with her over night stay.  She was so good!!  We even had a 2 hour car ride to Grandpa’s house and she did fabulous in the car.

My little sister and brother.

IMG_6337 Yes he is the one who drives that scary car.

My little brother has Skinny the dog, in the picture below.  Actually it is my Uncle’s who is sitting next to him.  We would go camping when we were really little with this Uncle and his family and they would bring Skinny.  We seriously would ‘walk’ Skinny all over the campground and people would just stare at us like we were crazy.  To top it off we would ride around on an old tandem bike.  Sometimes we would ride the tandem bike and walk Skinny at the same time.  We were cool kids – I know!!

IMG_6340 We brought Maggie with us and she loved it up here.  She swam in the lake lots.  She tried to play with the geese… um… maybe the geese chased her and weren’t afraid of Maggie.  She even got along with a lazy hound dog!!  Although she didn’t not like the little dog that thought she was a bigger dog, you know those kind of dogs.  When we got home on Sunday, Maggie crashed.  She slept the rest of the day.  She was being so good – we never had to yell at her on Sunday!  I think Maggie needs to live on a lake… Jesse can we move?  ; )

Here is my Mom getting her Mallory time.

We had a blast up north with everyone.  We got to hear lots of stories of what it is like to grow up with 11 brother and sisters – and what it is like when you parents own a bar.  And what it is like when your Mom is the actual real Lucy from I Love Lucy.  My Grandma died from cancer when I was pretty little, so I don’t have a lot of memories – but I love to hear the stories about her.

Jesse and I also celebrated our 6th wedding anniversary yesterday.  And you know what – neither of us knew it was our anniversary!!  Seriously!!  All of us are eating breakfast Sunday morning and all of sudden Jesse comes and says “Happy Anniversary.”  Oh yeah!  He didn’t remember either – My Dad told him!  And he came running so he could be the first to ‘remember’.  Except he can’t keep a secret and said… your Dad told me.  : )

Chubby Cheeks

 IMG_6328

Sometimes I just can’t resist these cheeks!!  Do you see all the drool?  She is seriously drooling like crazy!

IMG_6327

Mallory’s Uncle Jerry is not a fan of drool or spit-up.  One time her Aunt Steph was holding her and a little (very little) spit-up came and Jerry went running.  Seriously!  He got up from his chair and took off!  At first I thought he was going to get something to wipe her face – but nope… he was outta there!!

My cousin stopped over today and when she saw Mallory she said “You look like Adam [my brother]!”  Uhoh!  : )  She also noticed Mally’s red hair.  A red-headed Adam!!?  Oh Lordy!!  We could have a crazy girl on our hands!  I hope she is not into decorating her car like Adam.

If you look real close there are deer horns out the top!!!

I think it was last summer we were visiting Jesse’s cousins and she tells me they were eating at Hardees and up rolls Adam and his buddies.  She starts laughing and tells everyone “That is Lynnie’s brother!”

Everyone knows this kid!!  We can’t hide!!  Some guy even joked about putting advertising on his car for his business because everyone sees this car around town.

Maybe Mallory will have her Uncle Adam paint her mirrors and accessories pink instead of blue when she gets her first car!

Sunday Dress

IMG_6308

Mallory’s Aunt Steph wanted to see her in the little yellow dress that she bought her… so I dressed her up for church today for Aunt Steph.  Then I had to take some pictures of her because she was just way too cute!!

IMG_6309This picture (above) I was trying to think like my Mom… be creative, off center, um I think I need more practice.  Maybe even a lesson or two.  <<hint hint>>

Then she started to slide…

IMG_6310

She found a comfortable spot.  Then found her hands.

IMG_6315

Then she wanted to chat with me.  (She has started to drool – she better not be getting teeth already!)  Anyone else think she is going to have red hair?  Seriously, Jesse and I are starting to see a lot more red in that hair… even in her eyebrows!

IMG_6317   Done chatting.  Cry time.

IMG_6320  Just give me my pacifier and let me sleep already.IMG_6322

I had a scary moment with Mallory tonight.  We got home and she was sleeping in her car seat, so I left her in there while I went and started laundry.  I then wanted to go outside to check on my tomatoes so I took Mallory out of her car seat and put her into the sling so I could have both hands in case my tomatoes were ripe enough to pick.  She stayed sleeping while I did this.  As soon as I got outside and down the deck steps I looked down at her, and her face was bright red and she was trying to cry/scream but nothing is coming out.  I immediately turned around and went back into the house.  Now, she is crying… I mean screaming like I never heard before.  Almost like she was hurt or something.  I freaked and yelled for Jesse to come.  Then she would do it again – bright red face and trying to cry/scream but nothing is coming out and she stretches out and is kind of stiff.  Then she cries hard like we never heard before.  It felt like forever, but I bet it only lasted 3-5 minutes.

While she is crying we can hear that she is really congested and almost kind of chokes on it.  So we get that lovely booger suction thing and start sucking – which she was so not a fan of.  Then I go change her diaper and feed her and she falls asleep while eating and is sleeping hard, so I put her in the bouncy and let her sleep.

What happened?  Why did she all of sudden cry like that?  Was she choking on that yuck?  I could tell she was stuffy-icky,  because she was kind of snoring while she was sleeping.  Can babies get colds this little?

It is so hard to hear her cry like that.  Especially when you have no idea what is wrong.  I did really well in the moment but as soon as it was over I had tears.

She seems to not be stuffy right now – and she is sleeping again without snoring.  So hopefully we got it all and we never have to experience that again.
