Garage Phase 4

We have concrete!  They came last week and got the foundation poured.

IMG_9564Here is our retaining wall that needs to be re-done.  However, our school landscaper was here tonight and he says that he has enough kids that some of them can work on this wall… some can do our patio… and some can do our fire pit!!!  Score!  They start tomorrow! IMG_9546

I never showed you the front retaining wall that Jesse did.  Next spring we will landscape it.

Mallory thinks it is her new play area.  She has to always go check out her pumpkin.

P.S. My Mom just posted awesome pictures of Mallory that she took.  Check them out.

First Bully

Today Mallory and I were outside playing and watching all the cement trucks coming and going.  Yes.  They are pouring our garage today!!!!

The neighbor had her grand-daughter, Blaire, today and she likes trucks too.  So she brought Blaire over for a closer look.  We took the kids in the back yard (aka: mud pit) and the girls are playing on the little swing set together.  It was cute!  Blaire is 21 months old and Mally is just about 16 months old.

The neighbor and I are chatting away and all of sudden Mallory starts crying.  Crying hard.  Real tears.  Blaire is just looking at us.  : )  I pick up Mallory and try to comfort her and figure out what happened.  I thought maybe she pinched her finger in the steering wheel on the slide that they were playing with, but I couldn’t find anything.  Then I look at her other hand and I say to the neighbor… um, does Blaire bite?  Neighbor says, she use to but I thought she was over it.  Nope.  Poor little Mally’s pointer finger had nice deep teeth marks on it and she even scraped her teeth down her finger and peeled off some skin!  I’m guessing Blaire wasn’t letting up and Mally just yanked her finger out of her mouth.

Once I got Mally all calmed down I knelt down by Blaire and told Blaire we don’t bite.  It hurts.  Can you say your sorry to Mallory?  Nope!  She just looked at me and looked at Mallory with her big blue eyes!

We don’t get to see Blaire very often – but hopefully this won’t be the last time.  My neighbor was pretty embarrassed and took her home.  : )

Garage Phase 3: Stop Raining

I think it has been raining since “Garage Phase 2” which is causing huge delays in this process and creating an angry Lynn and Jesse.  : )  The calendar is whizzing by and I really would like my truck in a garage for the winter.  Granted I did get heated seats with my new truck… however Mally’s seat is not heated and I’m not a fan of scraping ice and snow.  : )

Last week Wednesday night our concrete guy stopped in to check it out and mark off where he was to pour.  About two hours after he left… it started raining.  And raining!  It rained THREE INCHES that night!  Our concrete guy called Thursday morning at 6:30 and said he wouldn’t be coming.

This week has brought on more rain.  So much so that schools are being canceled due to flooding roads.  Its like hurricane season in the midwest!  I think we got about another 4” of rain yesterday.

I took some pictures this morning (from the deck – I’m afraid to step on the lawn for I might sink and never be found again.) and my pictures don’t do it justice.  But I attempted.

IMG_9539The school is suppose to come put in a patio here in this spot.  It is pure quick sand/mud.  I would have the entire landscape class stuck in my backyard as lawn art.  Yesterday it was a pond – full of water.

IMG_9540Jesse’s retaining wall is washing away.  He already had to redo this section of the wall once!

IMG_9541I can’t stand this next picture – but I’ll show you.  Mud mud mud mud mud!  I can’t stand mud!

IMG_9543I’m not sure when the rain in suppose to stop and if it does stop how quickly we can get this area to dry out so it is useable and buildable.  This would be why I’m not in the construction business.  : )  I’ll stick to my accounting and graphic arts – there is no mud involved with that.
