Outside
Mallory is an outside baby! You ask her if she wants to go outside and she’s ready instantly! Let’s go!
We went outside today before lunch to check on the garden. I had given her a job… she had to put the green beans that I was picking into the bucket. Five minutes in - she ditched her job and crawled all the way over to the patio and started coloring with the chalk and riding her giraffe. It’s kind of a long crawl.
She played on the patio for so long all by herself while I was at the garden.
The neighbor pops her head out and sees Mallory “all by herself” and starts talking to her. Mallory are you playing outside by yourself today? Nope, my mommy put the pup in charge today! ; )
She has this new trick where she gets on her giraffe… and gets off… and gets on… and gets off. Over and over and over again!
OH!! Guess what else Mallory did today? She took some steps!! Yup! I had this goal where I wanted her to walk before HemmerFest which is next weekend. By Golly the girl may just do it! Tonight she wanted me to pick her up and I was trying to make her stand by herself before I would pick her up. Well she wouldn’t do that. So I stand her up and then I back up and she took steps towards me!! I pick her up and start jumping up and down and hooting and hollering and cheering. (Yeah… I’m a loud mom!! Watch out, I could be the loud sports mom!!) So we did it again! And again! And again! We got her to toddle to Jesse and then he would turn her around and she would toddle to me! Oh it was adorable and we were super proud parents!!

Friday = Zooday!
This Friday we got everyone’s schedule to work out and we took the kids to the zoo. My sister and I couldn’t wait. We were texting the night before saying how excited we were to take the kids. I went to this zoo as a kid and the only part I remember is our car breaking down. It felt as if our car broke down in a median in the middle of the road right across from the zoo. : ) Then I remember eating lunch and playing. Notice I have no recollection of the actual zoo? And what I do remember is totally wrong. The car did break down, but not near the zoo nor in the middle of the highway. I have a horrible memory – My Dr. Husband used me as his guinea-pig when he was in grad school and I had to take many tests. Memory and I don’t get along. Anyway…
We get to the zoo and walk in (it’s free) and we see a few owls. A cougar-type-cat, named Thunder, that hisses at Garrett in the stroller and then lays down all lazy like. And ducks! Lots and lots of ducks! They hang out right by the corn machine and beg you when you walk by to slide a quarter in the machine and feed them.
So we fed some ducks. They were WAY friendly and practically ate the corn right out of our hands.
The ducks almost had to fight Miss Mallory for the corn because she was trying to eat it herself!! We would hand her a piece and instantly it went to her mouth and we would all yell… no! feed the duckies! Quack, Quack!
I have a lot of duck pictures… I’m sorry. Mally was really into the ducks.
When we walked onto the next animal she was pointing behind us at the ducks and wiggling to try to get down and go by them again.
Then we saw the bear. Um, wasn’t a fan of his cage or lack of cage. I did not feel safe. However, this bear has been here for years!
My Mom wasn’t scared and apparently she thought it was even safe enough to put my child’s legs over the bears fence!!!!
I think this picture is so cute of El - with her zig-zag part, her signature look.
And that was it folks! That was the zoo! : ) We did see some wolfs and prairie dogs. We were finished with the zoo in a snap!!
So we forced the kids to stick their heads in one of these boards! : )
The little ones were not very cooperative. Mally is trying to climb threw the hole, and Garrett wants nothing to do with it!
To finish up the zoo trip we found our way to Applebees and of course Target!
At Target I bought Mallory new shoes because when I was leaving in the morning to meet everyone Jesse went to put Mallory’s shoes on and said he couldn’t get them on. So… I get her these new shoes and we put them on in the store and she wears them. We are on our way home and Mallory is trying to sleep and can’t get comfortable and starts crying… then cries really really really hard. I’m trying to comfort her from the front seat and it isn’t working. My Mom offers to pull over, but I tell her to just keep going, she will settle down. Then Elly says that she wants to take Mallory’s shoes off. I let her take them off and as soon as they are off Mallory stops crying and El says, “Tia, Mallory’s feet are too chubby for these new shoes you bought her!”
